Impulsive or just plain lucky? We're going with lucky.

In 16 days we close on our first home.  It was only 15 days ago we put the offer in on the house.  And it was only 17 days ago that we started the house hunt.  Impulsive?  Nah.  We're referring to it as lucky.

The bloke's folks are visiting from Scotland for two weeks in October.  We decided it was best to wait to move in together until after their visit.  But we also thought it wouldn't hurt to start looking to see what we could compromise on.

See, the bloke currently owns a modern condo in the suburbs.  The bird rents a charming (a.k.a. old) apartment in the city.  We figured it would take months to combine those two tastes and locations.

Enter the second house we looked at ... the bungalow.  We were both sold the minute we walked in the door.  Could it really be that the process we thought would take months and months only took two days?  That's luck.

The bungalow had only been on the market for one day when we visited it.  That was a Friday.  We put the offer in on Saturday.  There was another offer put in the same day.  Damn the luck!  But ours ended up being more attractive and we found out on Monday that our offer was accepted.  Lucky us!

Long story short, it's been a crazy two weeks full of inspections, paperwork, and keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well.  (I think I may have developed early-onset arthritis from so much finger and toe crossing.)  And now it's just a matter of waiting ...

Being low on cash in anticipation of our down payment, today we opted for free entertainment - visiting open houses.  (Sounds a little crazy since we're in the process of buying a house, but it's really great fun for free!)  The houses we saw were great - a great reminder of just how lucky we are to have found our bungalow!

Love,
the bird and the bloke

P.S. Here is some eye candy to hold you over until May 15th!

(I think we still would have bought it if the only room in the house was this bathroom.)
